Cleveland Opera Theater Presents
“Cleveland Opera Theater delivers stunning spectacle with Puccini's La Bohème” - The Plain Dealer
Puccini’s most popular opera returns to Playhouse Square with this all-new production.
Be transported to the heart of Latin Quarter Paris - where Mimì, a young seamstress of fragile health, meets the dashing writer Rodolfo. Extravagant singer Musetta teases and taunts her on and off again lover, the painter Marcello, while musician Schaunard and philosopher Colline scheme to make rent and enjoy the spectacle of Café Momus. Together, these young bohemians find friendship and true love while they struggle for their art and strive to fulfill their dreams.
Puccini’s sweeping score contains some of the most beloved music in all of theater. Frequently referenced in popular culture, La bohème was featured in the Academy Award–winning film Moonstruck and was the inspiration for the Tony–Winning musical Rent—making the story and its music instantly recognizable to even newcomers to opera.
